Sweet onions
The sweet onion has this name because it has a much sweeter taste than the normal onion. Children, in particular, prefer the sweet onion to the yellow onion. Peeling a sweet onion does not make your eyes water either, which is often the case with the other varieties. You frequently see sweet onions as garnishing for pizzas and hamburgers, and they are also particularly tasty in a vegetable salad or when barbecuing. Sweet onion marmalade is an excellent choice to accompany pâté or for spreading on a slice of bread. South-America, South-Africa and Spain are the main countries which produce sweet onions.
